Our online dictionaries resume work after long break.

The main changes:

• The algorithm of phonetic comparison in the rhymes search was substantially improved. The graphic notation of the word is transformed to phonetic transcription based on the pronunciation rules and Orthoepic dictionary. For example, now we can find the precise rhyme братца (Noun, Genitive from братец) for a word браться (Verb, Infinitive).
• The new Morphological dictionary is added. You can use it:
  • looking through all the wordforms of the inserted word with grammatical characteristics and phonetic transcription. For verbs - its aspect pair verb;
  • finding words beginning from or ending with any set of letters;
  • checking word spelling.
• Synonyms dictionary is being revised, it is so far unavailable.

A web-variant of rare book Ideographical dictionaries by V. V. Morkovkin was prepared and published on our site. A historical review of subject (in Chapter 2) is especially interesting in our opinion. In addition, the book contains classification schemas that were realized in the most considerable thesauri of the past.

Our site was redesigned. English version of the site and on-line search service are available now (in test mode). Representation of Ideographical Dictionary fragments was essentially refined.

Rhymes 2.01 beta. Of course, small bugs were found. Moreover, navigation by rhyming quality (using numeral keys) and tool tips were added to rhyme list (for desktop). Some completion for rhyming dictionary (150 words).

Rhymes 2.00 beta. Many errors of wordform synthesis were corrected. ~1000 new words were added. Storage format of rhyming dictionary was highly optimized (data packing in 4-5 times, Large dictionary ~ 1.6Mb!). See Changes in Rhyming dictionary for details.

Some improvements in GUI: application window is hidden to the system tray (for desktop only), dialogs were reformed for PocketRhymes. Bugs of word selecting (in rhyme list window) were fixed. Word navigation by the first letter(s) was realized in list of rhymes. Hold ALT key by typing of several initial letters of word (only for desktop version).

To enlarge Dictionary of synonyms and to develop full phonetic analyzer are primary tasks now.

Baranov's Ideographical dictionary page was appeared. I am planed to build this dictionary in Rhymes. In addition, there are many links to semantic dictionaries including Russian wordnets there.

I am invited all who takes an interest in major ways of modern theoretical physics to visit recently opened site ketsaris.1gb.ru where my father works about unified field theory were placed. Common mathematical formalism based on space-time generalization and description of dynamics in terms of fundamental physical algebras and groups is developed there. Since, this is substantial and serious study I hope real experts of physics will carry with one. First of all, read Lectures (in Russian), which are addressed to wide circle of readers, and you shall not regret.

Software contest for Pocket PC 2002, where Rhymes participated, summed up. The contest lasted from the end of December 2002 to the beginning of April 2003 was organized by Quarta Technology and Microsoft Russian office with sponsor support by Rover Computers. To my great surprise, Rhymes was included among prize-winners and took the second place. You can learn about the action in detail and look at my abashed show during prize presentation from Handy.ru

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section was added. Russian localization settings for non-Russian Windows versions are described in detail there.

Rhymes 1.22 (for desktop). Problem of font display for non-Russian Windows was eliminated. Some completions to help tutorial.

Rhymes 1.20. Help tutorial and installer were made. Synsets can be saved to file now. Application became more stable, some bugs were fixed.
