This page presents Baranov's Ideographical dictionary which we plan to build in Rhymes.
In fact, the dictionary is unique as yet large thesaurus of Russian language. It's main purpose is to give semantic environment of specific term and representation of vocabulary as a whole. Thesaurus of any other language can be developed on basis of the dictionary. In essence, Baranov's dictionary is able to substitute wide set of special-purpose dictionaries such as semantic, thematic, associative, explanatory, of synonyms and antonyms, of compatibility, phraseological.
Author works on Dictionary almost two ten years. The dictionary went several editions with numerous additions and improvements (the first publication was in 1990), unfortunately, with very small circulations.
The last edition: Баранов О.С., Идеографический словарь русского языка, 2002, УДК 413.223 ББК 81.2Р-4, 1200 pages.

The dictionary has classical organization as Roget's Thesaurus. Words are collected in families (semes) by sense and are grouped about some conception (idea) that words are connected with by aspectual relations mostly. In its turn, families of words are grouped under subsections et cetera. The dictionary contains 5923 semes in 7 hierarchic levels at this juncture (for comparison, Roget's Thesaurus of the 1911 edition has ~1000 semes and up to 8 hierarchic levels). Most of cluster conceptions has definition with generic and specific relations.
Classified schemas having been based on the most important ideographical dictionaries of the past are highly interesting:
